4. Leon Botha – South African DJ and Artist
Leon Botha was a Cape Town–based visual artist and DJ who lived with progeria and became one of the world’s oldest known survivors of the condition at the time. Beyond his medical journey, he was celebrated for his creativity. He produced striking self-portraits exploring identity and mortality, and he performed as a DJ in the South African hip-hop scene, collaborating with the band Die Antwoord. Leon passed away in 2011 at the age of 26, but his work continues to be admired for its originality and honesty.
